As a moderate Republican - I appreciate the opportunity to vote and try 'to moderate' the choice of which Democrat will represent me in Sacramento. With two giant labor union PACs throwing in money - to the two Palo Alto lawyers running, my choice, and your choice for moderation should be clear. Kasperzak.

Moderate, and independent in may ways. Very experienced in actually working in a legislative environment. Already has a statewide and a nation-wide stable reputation in the councilmember professional organizations. Kasperzak

This is not to cut down the civic mindedness of the two Palo Alto candidates - but one has very little legislative experience - and the other has zero legislative experience. I prefer a moderate, with lots of legislative experience, in an active and compromising legislative environment. Kasperzak

Decline to State voters (independents) - do you want a dependent Democrat representing you, or an independent Democrat? Vote for Kasperzak in primary - and at least get 'an independent' choice in the general election.

Career part-time politician Kasperzak has been roundly criticized as standing for nothing and voting for special interests. He can post articles all he likes but will be lucky to finish FIFTH.

This article's focus on "thousands of dollars" in labor donations obscures the real story in the Assembly primary: well over $1,000,000 in special-interest money spent on supposedly "uncoordinated" ads for Berman and nasty hit pieces directed at Vicki Veenker. It's not just mailers, but polling, market research, and internet ads as well. The groups represent malpractice insurers, charter school (anti-teacher's union) interests, realtors, and big-money apartment owners. It's pretty clear what each of these would stand to gain by installing Berman in the Assembly.

Although Berman may technically be following the law in having no overt "coordination," it certainly looks like these interest groups are coordinating with each other.

Kasperzak? He was a Republican ten years ago, but changed parties when if became clear that voters in this area are solidly Democratic. I don't hold that against him, though. The problem I have with Mike is his voting record on the City Council - he has consistently sided with developers and been dismissive of residents' concerns. His support for the idea of closing lanes to autos on El Camino for BRT was just the icing on the cake.

The only candidate on the ballot that is not in some special interest pocket is John Inks. His record on city council shows this clearly. He doesn't blindly follow the rest of the council. If something stinks, it stinks. Someday the sheeple will wake up and elect representatives that REPRESENT US, not those that line their pockets.

I appreciate that his views have evolved. Politicians that simply vote down a party line like hard right-wing Inks are a dying breed. Check out this 2014 MV Voice article:

Council member Mike Kasperzak prodded a majority of the council at the end of the May 28 meeting to request a memo about the legal status of Sunnyvale's new gun laws, which are being challenged by lawsuits. it appears that our local gun merchants so-called "constitutional rights" trump all of our rights to be alive and safe. While we perish, they get rich.

We need more intelligent people like Mike and fewer ideologies like Inks.

The number of direct mail pieces I've received directly from Marc Berman's campaign and from a variety of groups who support him has been so large that the advertising has had the opposite effect from what the candidate and his supporters intended. It has given me the _impression_ that Mr. Berman is in the pocket of special interests. I wonder if any other MV residents feel the same way.

Does anyone else feel as I do about Marc Berman's UNENDING flyers that arrive daily - sometimes in twos and threes, touting him, in our mail box?
It is a waste of time for the postal service and obnoxious to receive so many, and they are now ripped up and tossed, at our house.

The result for me - especially after reading more about him and his "perfection" is to refuse to vote for him.
What I would really like to do is return all his mailed debris to his mailbox or front porch! So there, Marc Berman!

I'll be voting for Veenker who has her priorities where I think they should be.

I'm so damned tired of waiting for one of the boys to keep so-called "women's issues" from slipping into the morass of "not needed as much as __________" (fill in the blank) any issue that primarily and directly benefits male needs. The boys with stated good intentions vav "women's issues" seldom carry through when push comes to shove.

So called "women's issues" ARE family issues actually. And I'm for that.

I received an unprecedented amount of junk mail promoting Mr. Berman - every day last week there were two or more large glossies, same format but with a different slant. One day six different pieces arrived. Six. BIg. Shiny. Berman. Campaign. Flyers. Really!

In addition to clogging the recycling bin, this shows a certain disrespect at several levels and does not endear Mr. Berman to this voter. Ick.
