These are great efforts and I applaud Santa Clara County. There are other schools in Mountain View where children are subject to heavy traffic and dangerous intersections. Let's ensure the safety of all children... including those who have to cross Grant Road, Dana Street, Middlefield Road and other busy roadways.

The MV school crossing that I think is incredibly dangerous is for Huff School at the Grant Rd. and Phyllis/Martens stoplight. At 8 AM, it is a horribly toxic mix of aggressive drivers frustrated by the huge daily traffic jam competing with young, distracted children crossing on foot and weaving along dangerously on bicycles. I've seen crossing guards literally fighting commuters desperate to get through that horrible intersection. Getting excess commuter traffic off of Grant Road should be a very high priority for the City of MV.

The intersection at El Monte and Springer is also a doozy, or for that matter, all crossings of the El Monte Speedway east of Springer are dicey at best. A good number of Mountain View and Los Altos kids cross El Monte to get to Los Altos High School. It's hard enough crossing in a car, however, on foot and by bike is super difficult.
