Mountain View taxi company order to pay $175K in back wages

The owner of a Silicon Valley taxi and limousine company has been ordered to pay $175,000 in back wages to dozens of drivers misclassified as independent contractors rather than full-time employees, the U.S. Department of Labor announced today.

We are fast becoming a third world country...

Mtn View Yellow cab should be banned from the city....that is the ONLY way we will restore honesty and warn other companies from such actions.

For sure, company owner Sayed Abass (if he is a U.S. citizen) will be voting for Donald Trump. Spending money paying workers reduces profit. Trump wrote the book: The Art of the Scam.

Taxi drivers are treated unfairly.
Use Uber where the drivers are... independent contractors.

This employer must have gotten his legal and ethics training at TRUMP UNIVERSITY. Maybe he will next use Bankruptcy Court to get out of paying the judgment.
