New No Parking Signs on Latham Street

Original post made by Kate Ferguson, The Crossings, on Apr 13, 2016

Curiously enough, two new "No Parking for Vehicles over 6' tall" signs were erected on Latham street last week. It's obvious that this targets the dozen RVs and vans parked on the stretch of Latham between Ortega Avenue and Showers Drive. The position of those two signs, located in front of the office buildings, now forces those RVs to be parked bumper to bumper towards the condos/apartments, effectively blocking the views of cars coming out of the Avalon driveways.

Questions:
1) Does the city erect these signs?
2) And how do they determine where to place them?
3) Why stop at 2 signs if the purpose was to prevent the RVs from parking there?
4) What about leaving the streets for residents of the apartments/condos to park their second cars?

That's really too bad that the views are blocked for the cars trying to exit a driveway that I'm assuming is well-used.

My guess? The businesses complained.

You can too. Write to your city council (all of them, one at a time, via email). Cute the now-dangerous lack of visibility for X number of cars/day on that block.

I believe the city erects the signs, but only on the instruction of their bosses, and that word has to come down from the top.

Good luck.
