So one of the vehicles involved in the four-car crash also hit several vehicles along 237 before reaching Grant Road - more than a mile away? And we're told that drugs or alcohol were not a factor, and that no one was arrested or cited? There is something fishy here.
A car being involved in one collision might be an "accident" but a car being involved in multiple collisions at different locations, within minutes? That's no accident. This driver is a threat to public safety and should not be on the road. MVPD - please investigate thoroughly!

That is a strange story. I suppose the vehicle could have malfunctioned or the (sober) driver could have been mentally or physically ill or just in a hurry - other drivers and lives be damned. Looking forward to a follow-up story.

just throwing speculation out there since that's all we have now: What if the person was suffering a serious medical emergency and was rushing to El Camino? I have nothing to base this on, but it is in the world of possibilities. I guess we'll just keep speculating until we understand the situation better.
There really should be some followup giving an explanation if no citations were issued.

This makes me worry about driving on Grant Road!

This makes me worry about how well the police and DA are protecting us from hazards like this driver.
237 in MV is prime for lost of this. Idiot drivers are ALWAYS playing the game of trying to get in front of the other guy. This continues right up to and beyond the Grant Rd / ECR intersection. I see the close calls each and every day, and that is no exaggeration.
Everyone is just trying to end up in front of the other guy and they are risking lives to do it.

The drivers on 237 from the Middle Field Exit to Cuesta are in need of SERIOUS attitude adjustment. They change lanes not only to get into a lane, but to block someone from getting ahead of them, sometimes at high speed as they approach lines of stopped cars on El Camino.
The games they play to try to make sure their "enemy": does not pass them risk all our lives.
The DAILY exhibition of driver's ego/rage goes completely ignored by MV cops.
I sometimes see them doing some radar for one day, maybe 1x per month but never really cracking down which is what is needed.
MV Police, YOU know, YOU see it in your civilian cars. Mark my words a death WILL occur again in this area unless the MV police and HW patrol take strong and repeated action. It is complete bad driver bedlam out there.
Please get out there and write tickets until your hands cramp!

I agree with above, this story has some missing pieces.
There is a huge difference between 237 (a fast highway) and Grant Road (a congested, residential street). Drivers unfamiliar with the area may cross El Camino from 237 onto Grant thinking they are continuing on a very fast highway. I notice this when trying to take a left out of the Walgreens lot onto Grant. The cars from 237 are moving fast, and only slow down their driving at Phyllis/Martens intersection.
