Assembly candidates are as diverse as the cities in District 24

At the March 22 Mountain View City Council meeting, I raised an issue concerning the Council's (later) consideration of campaign finance reform in the City.

I noted that, like Donald Trump, Assembly candidate Michael Kasperzak had not given but LOANED money to his campaign. The trouble with loans is that they may be recouped later from special interests not revealed earlier.

The PRESS should report loans by candidates to their own campaigns for voters to consider.

We should be concerned that voters are about to select (in the June 7 election) the top two candidates for State Assembly and most voters know little and may care less. The winner in November will almost certainly run unopposed in 2018 and 2020. Here is my suggestion to learn more and increase voter interest: A reporter should demand that each candidate reveal the Presidential candidate he (or she) prefers and explain why. Such a question might also yield some useful information in choosing among the Presidential hopefuls on the June ballot
