Giants-A's exhibition game to boost traffic, transit use

Original post made on Mar 31, 2016

Baseball is about to return to the Bay Area. Even before opening day on Monday, the San Francisco Giants and Oakland A's will face each other in three exhibition games starting Thursday. Traffic and public transit use is expected to be heavier than usual as a result.

What was evident from the problems that occurred with Superbowl parking, is that many residents from places like Cupertino drive and park in Mountain View to get to San Francisco.

Putting notices in the Voice does not get to those who might want to use Mountain View to park for Caltrain or the light rail to Levis stadium.

Any parking restrictions on game days should be made perfectly clear on large signs in the parking lot. A few small signs and notices to local residents is not good enough.

Apparently someone is still chapped about their deserved tow on SB Sunday.

If I and the others I witnessed could see the signs and turn around(that's what I saw many do), I wonder just how big and special the signs need to be to ensure even the most non-aware drivers can see them? The fact is you can't.

The lesson for the towed is this: Check the Cal train website if they think there may be an issue with parking. Super Bowl Sunday was a HUUUGE deal so NEVER assume it's fine just because you didn't see a sign. Do your homework. The info was everywhere, multiple outlets including the Cal train pages and even signs in front of your face. "I didn't see the signs" and "I wasn't made aware" are zero excuses.

That's really cool. I would be interested in seeing more graphs of different information you pull from these logs.
