Run for Zimbabwe, fix the plumbing

Original post made on Mar 16, 2016

This year, it's all about the plumbing. The annual Run for Zimbabwe Orphans, an exuberant fundraiser that combines cross-country fun runs for all ages with a cultural fair featuring African music and crafts, is set for noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday, March 20, at St. Joseph School, 1120 Miramonte Ave. in Mountain View.

What percentage of donations get directly to the children in Zimbabwe? What percent goes to overhead?

It's irresponsible journalism to not disclose this information of a charity. How do we know donations don't just go to fund some one's travel bug and send of adventure by being around impoverished people in the Third World? Or their self-reflexive need for attention? It's actually a common phenomenon in small charities such as these. Report the financials.

Yes, hahaha, but no answer to the answer regarding the precentage of funding to overhead and operational expenses. How much money actually reaches the children? Report the financials. Or does that involve too much journalistic effort?

Sally, what paper do you think you are reading?! Go use that apparent passion and find out for yourself if you care so much about it. Don't expect to be spoon fed everything that might satisfy your blind assumptions about this. Seems you just want to project negatives then complain about them.

That's really cool. I would be interested in seeing more graphs of different information you pull from these logs.
