Tell us more about this procedure by which contractors "self-certify" their construction work?!

Would this apply to single-residence construction as well?

I had to get a new water heater 8 years ago. I remember paying about $35 for a Mountain View permit. The plumber did a very good job installing it and bringing my installation up to the latest code. No one from the city ever came by to inspect the work.

So what good will this exercise do?

How about 1616 El Camino construction? Has it stalled completely? From street level you can see questionable practices.

City how about hiring someone to inspect all the gouging Going on in MV property owners are not keeping up with rental repairs. Finding affordable housing is a joke . Spend that money on fining gouging landlords. Craigslist is full of short term " SUPER BOWL " rental only making it more difficult to find a place to live. City of MV get on the game. Who cares if someone remodeled the kitchen and did a lousy job. It's their mess!!!
As far as 1616 El Camino Real they lite all the side street.

Folks: This is an article in the Mountain View Voice. It is not a City publication. Please do not think the City will read your comments. If you have a comment, complaint of question for the City, send it to the City...not to readers of the Voice

@George - Mountain View does not have rent controls, therefore landlords can charge whatever the market will bear.
