I have zero tolerance for the "I was drunk" excuse for hateful behaviors. Just not good enough. Throw the book at this violent idiot.

Totally agree Maher!! People think smoking is bad and they tax it to death, how about taxing liqueur to death?
Unlike smoking, alcohol can be sudden death in the hands of the wrong person.

I'd LOVE to see a 25% tax on alcohol. The social woes it causes are fact, this includes accidental death as well as causing the death of totally innocent people on the road. It's time we treat it like the killer it is.
Here is a direct quote from the CDC and web link discussing the 88,000 deaths from alcohol from 2004 to 2010:
"One in 10 deaths among working-age adults aged 20–64 years are due to excessive alcohol use."

Yes, 88 THOUSAND deaths from alcohol in just that time period. Still, the mommies all joke about their precious wine and the daddys casually proclaim the greatness of beer so the next generation can continue to kill themselves and others. Luckily many are making the switch to safer and less deadly intoxicants. I hope the trend continues.
