Palo Alto council open to new Marriott hotels

Original post made on Dec 8, 2015

It's still a long way from the finish line, but a proposal to build two Marriott hotels on Palo Alto's border with Mountain View got off to a promising start on Monday night when Palo Alto City Council members indicated that they like the idea — at least in principle.

Yes, because the monolith that is the JCC is completely compatible with the context of the surrounding neighborhood.

I think this is unbelievable:
Williamson also argued that "the traffic impacts would be minimal and that his company would be wiling to install signals that would actually improve the flow of traffic".
The traffic along this corridor is a nightmare. It could take a driver 15 minutes just to get through the light at Charleston from 101 at rush hour, or 1/2 an hour to get to El Camino!
Also, if it is actually possible to "install signals to improve traffic flow" why hasn't it already been done? I say put the hotel somewhere else!
I've been a resident of Mtn. View / Palo Alto all my 50+ years, it saddens me that we can't even get around our own town anymore without having to be constantly waiting for a traffic light to change.

I thought the JCC stood for Just Crappy Concrete? Funny how Palo Alto had no complaints when they built their own concrete monstrosity just two blocks away.

The old abandoned SUN head quarters was better looking that pile of aggregate that stands there now.
