Our family along with the Yip's were among the few Asians in the Monta Loma neighborhood at that time. Our parents were also told that Asians were not really welcome in the area. Dad was also a war veteran having served overseas in an Army Air Force bomb group, Mom was a wartime worker at the Kaiser Shipyard as a draftsman and they managed to get the okay to purchase the family home in the Eichler subdivision after some "discussion".

Hard to imagine, US Army veterans having served their country in time of war and being blocked out in simply trying to purchase a home.

Mr. Yip,
America is proud of you. Every American should be proud of your military service and your breaking down the racial barriers. America is a better place because of people like you.

Clifford and Dorothy are generous and kind people giving back to their community in so many ways. It was delightful to read about a side of Clifford I never knew.
