An inspiring event with well deserved recognition for leaders in their fields. My concern is that if we don't turn the tide on research funding decisions made in Washington DC, scientific inquiry will be an ongoing casualty. We constantly hear the “I’m not a scientist” refrain from politicians, and frankly they have made it abundantly clear that they aren't with statements that climate change is a hoax and evolution is just a theory. It is time to have scientists involved in national policy decisions and 314PAC was set-up for exactly this purpose - to help scientists get elected to congress. All stakeholders should be represented at the legislative table. Unfortunately scientists are woefully underrepresented. Please join 314PAC (www.314pac.com) today and get involved. Separately we will struggle to be heard; together we can make significant impacts.
