Original post made on Oct 19, 2015

When it comes to creating a bike-friendly city, you might say that Mountain View is pedaling to the head of the peloton. The city and its local cycling advocates are taking center stage later this month at the annual dinner for the Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition.

Very proud of MV for helping reduce the issues of traffic congestion WITHOUT the need to ruin the quality of life for the citizens. This is how traffic reduction is going to get done for the future. There is no one magic bullet that will fix all woes, but investing in bike infrastructure is going to be a huge benefit for all in the future. Every person running local short trip errands on a bike is one less car/bus you need to be stuck behind if you have to drive
Thank you MV.

BIKES ARE FOR HEALTHY ADULTS AND CONCERNED PEOPLE ABOUT TRAFFIC ISSUES. NOT JUST KIDS. If YOU WANT CLEAN AIR USE A BIKE.

"Earlier this year, the company released its Bike Vision Plan, which calls for making bicycling into a primary mode of transportation in Mountain View by connecting 270 miles of streets with improved paths. " Can you direct me to a map of this plan? As a MTV bike commuter (just logged 24K miles of bike commute in the last eight years) I look forward to these paths. The currect Google bike trails are a dream-come-true; the Shoreline Avenue north of Bayshore is a pot-holed nightmare and I look longingly for the improvements.

Cyclists are winning every day. The smiles tell the story.

@MVBRod, I just drove home on 237. Cyclists sure shouldn't look to car drivers if they want examples of people who follow the rules of the road.
I guess they cyclists are just as bad as the drivers. Drivers take far more lives though, so really, worry about the cars, they're much more likely to cause harm to you or a loved on.

"Bikes are for kids. I wish all those adults would get off their bikes and into a car, then into traffic so I can wait 4 light cycles to clear an intersection instead of the 3 I have to wait for now"
...said no rational person ever

Why does it have to be all or nothing, yes or no, black or white?

Yes I can think of a million trips I cannot take by bike, but you know what? I can also think of many many short trips I could do by bike.
I needed to get some cash so I rode to BofA downtown. I also had to buy some stamps one afternoon. The bike was perfect to zip to Nob Hill. I seriously question any able bodied person who says they cannot make ANY trip by bike. "Will not", yes, but "Cannot"? That's a cop-out. It's cool if you don't want to make any trip at all outside your car, totally your choice and I'll support you for doing it as your choice, but you should be clear about the real reasons.
Far to many positive minded people want to use their bikes around town for short trips and would welcome some safer routes.
Actually, they're already here saying thanks to MV. We're on the right track.

I was quite clear when I said "find solutions for both bikes and cars". YOU are the one pushing only for bikes. Seems the only way you MINORITY can advance your agenda is to misquote, misrepresent others comments.
