Achievement gap widens in high schools

When the results of the state's new standardized tests rolled out last month, the Mountain View-Los Altos High School District had some of the highest scores in the county. But hidden in the strong overall performance, results from the first Common Core-aligned tests show many of the district's low-income and minority students are struggling.

MVLA's Brigitte Sarraf has always provided me with very good and complete information on standardized testing when I have asked, wether as just-a-citizen or as an elementary district board member. Five years ago or so, she brought up the 'math gap' problem to the attention of the MVWSD leadership and the community. As a feeder district to MVLA, we (In My Opinion) have to be sure to address this with the LCFF extra money we get for every Target student we have in MVWSD.
