Was it changed from the agenda which lists the whole meeting (incl. hotel) as a closed session?

@ SRB, I thought the same thing when I read the agenda. But city staff told me there will be a short open-session component to the meeting.

Supposedly, each hotel developer will deliver a 10-minute presentation before the council goes into closed session around 6 p.m. These presentations should provide a basic outline of what they're proposing, such as how many hotel rooms, parking spots, etc.

Yeah that's right bring more traffic to Mountain View! Literally across Middlefield is a Comfort Inn about barely half of a block and then less than half a mile are two other hotels right before you get onto 101....WHY congest downtown Mountain View even more! There are also plenty of hotels right on El Camino....Why take away more parking!! Even with a hotel new hotel and they provide some levels of parking it will NOT be enough parking....What a joke!!!

Mountain View seems interested primarily in development, not traffic congestion or sufficient parking. I live near the San Antonio projects. Behind me Lennar Homes has a huge project on the docket for condominiums and single family homes which I suspect will be sold at the going rate. A fence near the old Safeway building was just erected, and a shopkeeper told me that they will soon start constructing more homes. I fear that in a few years I will not be able to get out of my driveway because traffic will be so congested. What is the City of Mountain View doing to improve traffic flow on California Street, San Antonio Road, and neighboring streets. And now VTA is in discussions with the city about reducing the number of lanes for cars and dedicating either one or two lanes for their barely occupied buses. This doesn't seem to be in the best interests of drivers, and I don't think that this will encourage people to ride buses instead. It's just not practical. When is this building madness going to stop in Mountain View? Have you checked the new construction underway on El Camino lately? I honestly think the city seems more interested in generating income than improving traffic congestion, affordable housing and the quality of life for residents. There are people who live in Mountain View -- people we need most like teachers, firemen, and police -- who are leaving because they can't afford to live here. It's not just about not being able to afford to buy a house (that's probably not going to happen), it's about not having even enough money to rent. I really hope the City rejects the proposals to build a hotel in two parking lots downtown. I thought that the new members of the City Council would bring other members to their senses. Instead I think they've been brainwashed too. I hope other residents like me will voice their concern.

Why put the hotels downtown? There's nothing going on downtown except for a bunch of mediocre restaurants, and downtown already has very serious parking problems that spill over into my Old MV neighborhood. Just put all new development in the incredible mess North of Bayshore. Sweep all of the development garbage to N of Bayshore where it belongs. Not downtown, not El Camino, but GoogleLand. Got that, City Council?

Enough is enough. MV has more than done its fair share for over-development in Santa Clara County. It's time for homeowners to smack down the City Council, the Planning Commission, and all of the other various government and commercial interests that are trying to turn MV into an urban Hell --- like SF, for instance.

This is a really poor idea, and bad city management. While this may seem like a good spot for a hotel (near transit), the intersection of Hope and Evelyn is already gridlocked at peak PM hours, literally. By that I mean that traffic is frozen, and even when the light changes, drivers cannot move. This will only get worse as the transit center becomes increasingly utilized, as trains are run more frequently (a prime cause of the congestion at this intersection), and as downtown picks up more business due to an increasing city population. And at this intersection, they are adding a hotel? Why?
