LinkedIn campus plans win praise

Original post made on Sep 24, 2015

LinkedIn's transformative plans for a new North Bayshore campus received a round of accolades from Mountain View officials during a preliminary review last week. In a Sept. 16 study session, the city's Environmental Planning Commission signaled early support for the project, with members praising it as a vast improvement over the standard office park.

Why are we the people permitting the destruction of our city?

Because traffic on Shoreline wasn't horrendous enough?
Because we all hate going to the movies?

Notice that all their suggested traffic improvements are basically just designed to help their own people.

If you go to the dictionary and look under Sellout you'll see a picture of Mountain View.

They should fill in all the wetlands behind Shoreline and bulldoze Shoreline Park and Amphitheater to give Google their mega spaceship campus too! Then the mission will be completed and you would have the perfect tech city. Ban all cars in the area and have bikes, segways, monorails, and trams so it can be like a mega Techeyland park. Need room for the ping-pong tables, keg-parties, spa center, whole foods, bowling allies, tennis/basketball courts ect.

2.0 is gonna be something wild! All hat and no cattle yheee-haw!

Wasn't the General Plan just amended to allow housing in this area? Seems like housing there would be a great way to reduce some of the commutes and the traffic impacts. Also, we have a housing crisis in Mountain View....not an office one.

I don't care how wonderful the campus is, it doesn't make any difference to those of us who don't get to benefit from it.

When we lose two businesses that are quality of life amenities, the dance studio and Laserquest, it makes life that little bit less for the rest of us living in the area.

My family never used the dance studio, but my kids did go to Laserquest. It may have only been half a dozen times a year for a birthday get together or an annual all night event, but it was good clean fun and eagerly anticipated. I know it isn't Mountain View (or Palo Alto) City Council's business to provide this type of activity for the community, but at least they should bemoan the demise of businesses that provide a good deal of recreation to the area.

It doesn't count that Googles and LinkedIns provide fabulous facilities for their employees with great sports and rec facilities, when it is only the employees who can use them.

I think that at least some of these companies should be able to offer some times when the general public can have use of their facilities so that we can have some R & R instead of the places they destroyed.

When Mountain View officials praise a development, it's not good for the residents!

Lies, lies, lies.
Small business is being run over by the juggernaut that is LinkedIn .
None of the long term small businesses have been given any options.
No discussion
No compromise
Just get out of our way.
