Another good reason to shut down that shoreline amphitheater. Here is an Idea, why not build the Raiders a new stadium there? Or bring a basketball team here.

Yes, because professional sports fans are so much more peaceful than concertgoers.

Makes total sense.

there is going to be a rap concert on Oct 17, snopp dogg is the main artist. I think there is a need for lot of police and perhaps the Military too because thugs from Oakland, East Palo Alto and every other towna and city in Bay area will be coming to Mountain View and there will be lot of chaos and violence. There will be lot of drugs and alcohol...It is going to be nasty. I am afraid for the safety of Mountain View and its residents. Because the rappers are thugs and they will definitely be inciting violence on our soceity and the cops.

It makes me sad to read the racist comments on this website.

Sparty is a registered user.

From what I've seen country concerts are the worst. Bro trucks all over the place driving like jerks and a ridiculous amount of urinating in public. Last year there was even a car pulled over next to Moffett Field with two guys peeing on the side of the road.

And I assume they come from a fair distance because all the hotels along El Camino are full of the the same trucks on those nights.

Rap concerts in general are never as bad as the country concerts at Shoreline. I have 25 years worth of close hand observations on that matter.
Give me the rap fans over the country fans any day. Too much booze related behavior at those country shows, and surprisingly, far more messed up women who want to fight than the other types of concerts. In my years watching I've seen plenty of poor behavoir at all types of shows, but without question, I fear the big country shows more than anything.

The Mountain View Police Department has previously commented about the different types of arrests at Shoreline Amphitheater based on the music type.

Raves have more narcotics-based arrests whereas country music shows typically have higher numbers of alcohol-based arrests and fights.

"You don't get the same number of arrests for a Depeche Mode concert," Jaeger said.

Last year's Beyond Wonderland rave resulted in over 100 arrests, most of them on narcotics charges:

Presumably, a classical music show like the San Francisco Symphony's annual family-oriented Independence Day concert would have relatively little unrest. Perhaps the occasional theft of a jar of Grey Poupon. ;-)

Arrests only paint part of the picture. Far more issues go on w/out the police seeing it, but I would agree with the choice of intoxicants for the different types of crowds and that the concerts with booze as the main party supply have the worst behaved crowd regarding violence and rude behavior.

Just like with Cigs, there should be a dramatic increase in the cost of Booze. It kills way more than any Cig, yet the people only care about Cigs.
