The criticism of pesticide fogging is well taken. According to the state website, Santa Clara County now has just three human cases of West Nile Virus reported in all of 2015. San Mateo County has none. And limited "fogging" cannot be credited as is explained in the letter. . It is just rare that a mosquito bites an infected bird and turns around and bites a human. By the way, the claim of this county's Vector Control on its website that there is no medical cure for West Nile Virus is true because viruses - including flu viruses - resist treatment. The main difference is that flu spreads from humans to more humans. Not so with West Nile Virus. It does not even spread from mosquitoes to other mosquitoes.
