Who knew? *our* laundry room has video cam? The door to the LR can be closed at night, but never locked, for the sake of mail access for the tenants. Our rules prohibit laundry use after 10pm- what I find puzzling is how the burglars managed to "break in" to the coin boxes without arousing *nearby* tenants in our resonant(!) patio area. There are HUGE padlocks on the coin boxes- how in the world...
The burglars were not local, but are likely itinerants; we are not far removed from ECR that has mucho foot traffic day and night. What does the dude look like? The photo of the smoking woman is only half the picture.

A couple hundred dollars is conceivable.

The coin boxes at my complex's laundry rooms are likely emptied out by the service provider once a week.

Let's say a washer is used eight times between 6am and 10pm every day, at $1.25 per wash. That's $10 per day. Over a week, that would be $70 in coins. Multiply that by the number of machines in the room and it's easy to see how it could easily be two or three hundred in coins.
