Who pays for the transit center? Mountain View? VTA? Caltrain?

Will any of these changes/improvements to the Caltrain station area make a difference to the volume and frequency of the train whistle…if we could stop the loud (very loud) whistle at all hours of the day and night I'm all for it.

It would. It be the City's first downtown hotel. There were two. One in the 100 block that closed 25 years ago or so, and the other was redeveloped to be an office building on Evelyn.

I think the City needs to ask the developers to consider trying to connect the two properties under Hope St. The two properties together as a proposal would provide more room underground and give the developers more options to come up with amazing ideas for utilizing the space.
As for the Transit center, the City should do a study about closing Castro Street and extend a public plaza into the closed section of Castro. This would create a great open space and get rid of the congestion and traffic conflict at the rail crossing. The new space could also be connected to the new parkway across Central Expressway. Restaurants could also expand some of their outdoor dining.

Those 2 hotels that were mentioned weren't places you would want to stay in. Why do people think a CEO would even dream of staying in a motelish type lodging. Why not close Castro Street from Evelyn to Villa St, from Friday to Sunday night. Reopen Monday through Friday afternoon.
