I am baffled at the heavy handed approach taken by the city regarding Levi's Stadium Events. Would it not be a much more productive and significantly cheaper approach to not waste the money on the 1,000 word signs that become unreadable? Instead allow free parking but have volunteers from the Chamber of Commerce or even Min Wage paid teams handing out Game Day Coupons to downtown businesses at the Train and Light Rail Stations? Allow the restaurants to setup a quick "Taste of Mt View type booth on the plaza to give a small taste of what they could eat downtown after or before the event? Then here is a crazy idea, advertise that Mountain View welcomes Stadium Guests for Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner and shopping each and every event day? Make the coupons worth it, but try to tap the revenue from these guests instead of anger tham?

Just a thought..........

Why penalize the residents of Mountain View w this silly program. As they saw last year, the program lost money . Penalized non niner fans that wanted to go downtown and watch a Giants game and spend money.

Again...a solution seeking a problem. Sunday mid-day/afternoon is probably the quietest time in town. Encourage the use the public transit, with a potential dinner in MV.

Besides, most people going to 49'er games aren't going to drive all the way from SF/San Mateo/Santa Rosa only to park in MV and then deal with a slow and crowded light rail.

The parking program is applicable to all ten 2015-16 home game dates: seven Sundays, two Thursday night and one Monday night game.

The city now has a better grasp of the downtown MV parking demands from game attendees with the full initial pilot program complete. Hence they have reduced the number of paid parking lots from four to one and will continue enforcing the three-hour limit in the Old Mountain View, Jackson Park, and Willowgate neighborhoods, so game attendees aren't inconveniencing residents and visitors by leaving their vehicles unattended for 5-6 hours in residential neighborhoods or city lots intended for patrons of downtown businesses.

I think this is a reasonable change to the parking program and allows for downtown businesses to welcome local visitors who do want to shop/eat/conduct business downtown for a couple of hours.

I don't know when football games are played, but I expect that I'll be brutally fined if I ever park my car downtown. I don't need the grief so I'll just avoid downtown for another year. Downtown Palo Alto is nice.

Since it appears you didn't notice, the dates are also listed on the metal parking street signs in the affected areas. They were there this past season, they will be there this season. You could take a photo of one of those if you don't want to commit the dates to memory or if you don't want to add the dates in your calendar.

I agree that downtown Palo Alto is nice and I prefer going there via Caltrain myself. That said, Mountain View has a more diverse selection of cuisines from which to choose, and some more bargain-priced restaurants to boot.

I was sure it was homeless guys coordinating a scam. I was impressed.

Now that I know the scam is being coordinated by City Council members, I'm less impressed.

This program is a complete waste of time and money. The only people who would bother to come downtown are mostly MV residents. Maybe some LA residents. Otherwise why would anyone from PA or a nearby town come to MV. They can catch light rail and caltrain at easier spots

Going a bit deeper, I resent the city's imposition of a gratuitous vigilance task that I must worry about every time I visit downtown. My simple, 100% effective solution to avoid parking tickets is to avoid downtown, as if parking there was illegal 24/7/365. I've suffered enough grief in my life from belligerent parking enforcement in Oakland and San Francisco.

Did you know that the City of Oakland didn't even bother updating the street signs when they changed the meter enforcement cutoff from 8 PM to 6 PM? I feel like the same predatory sentiments are at work here.

Merchants take note: I will shop and dine elsewhere.

Meh, I've never once got a ticket in all my years parking in MV. SF and Oakland are ENTIRELY different in many many ways.
It's pretty simple really. When in doubt, I walk an extra block or two.
It really doesn't worry me at all...my fry pan is ready for.bigger fish.

I have changed my direction from my home town to Sunnyvale its a real easy drive on Evelyn street. I shop Safeway on Bernardo for food and pharmacy needs. Target is bigger and some under cover parking all free. On Murphy Street there are some great food places and Lucky market on Matilda is a friendly store. Try it and go south and gas is a great buy in Sunnyvale and they have a Sat morning farmers market.

Get a game schedule for days and times so you can plan. These parking lots were built for commuters or shoppers. Games are played Sunday and the 49ers are working on more parking lots so in time less and less cars will use the lots.

Yes, you don't even need to consult the city's website for the Levi's home game schedule. Any major sports site will have this information: Yahoo Sports, ESPN, Sports Illustrated, NFL.com, the 49ers' website, etc.

Plus the local media makes frequent references to Niner home games anyhow. You basically have to have your head in the sand to not know that there's a home game being played in the upcoming weekend.

I'm in favor of the program, but I want to point out that Retiring Early is right. It adds a level of stress and planning that makes a trip to Mountain View more complicated, regardless of the day/time. It's not explicit in the information whether other events are still covered like they were before. So now I'm still worrying about whether Taylor Swift might be coming, or a monster truck show or some other random event. So now 24/7/365 my approach to MV parking is to have a giant red flag of caution on it.

Yes, for those of us that are online all the time, read The Voice, and follow changes to city policy, this is a no brainer. But to the majority of people, parking restrictions will come as unpleasant surprises that they didn't plan on it.

As I resident I support it, but I definitely agree that it's a mental tax on visitors 365 days a year.
