You are persecuted if you do, and persecuted if don't, but the excellent City of Mountain View Police Department is NOT TO BLAME! I feel sorry for the family but suing the Police is wrong!
In the past when the City made personnel and/or changed tactics/procedures because of past concert violence and/or performer histories they were criticized, even called racists!
If I was on this jury, I would take issue with any plaintiff making such accusations!
Suing the City only takes money away from other needed programs.

New reason that the city should refuse to allow any Rap shows in the future.

Mountain View police didn't kill Eric, nor did the City of Mountain View. I do not get it.

I hate to point out that the Mountain View police have made many inexcusable mistakes in the last few years. We deserve better. If you don't know what I am talking about, then you haven't been reading the Voice.

I'm impressed that Eric's family is honoring his memory in a positive way with the walk on Saturday and the petition to improve backstage security. This is not the first backstage incident at Shoreline involving weapons, but I believe it's the first homicide in the 29 year history of the venue.
Ultimately, I believe that Shoreline Amphitheatre and its management are responsible for what goes on inside the gates, which includes backstage.

I agree with Bad Scene ... damned if you do and damned if you don't. Too much security - it's racial profiling. Not enough security - someone should have known better. It's tragic that a young man died as a result of a dispute over a contract, but it's not the City of Mountain View's fault. The blame falls squarely on the shoulders of the shooter and a culture that embraces the idea that a gun makes a man a man.

"Exactly what precipitated Johnson's shooting last year still remains a mystery."
Seriously?
Google "Young Jeezy lyrics" to see what kind of people were drawn to the this concert.
