Vote NO on any VTA funding until they address the freeways and their arteries. They need to drop the whole BRT lane grab of ECR. Horrible vision on that proposal. Send the message that you are not happy with VTA.
Vote NO for change.

More useful would be to vote no unless they earmark some of the funds for grade separation of the CalTrain tracks, particularly at Rengstorff (nightmare traffic clog that sends people to massively clogged Shoreline). If you like us then you shoulda built a bridge for us!

I think a trench in Mountain View for Cal Train and if it ever happens high speed rail is just as important as a trench in Palo Alto.
I reques the Mountain View Mayor John McAlister and Councilman Lenny Siegel along with the other Mountain View Councilmen begin working on a Trench for Mountain View's rail.

I'm definitely voting "no." We've already taxed ourselves up the wazoo and all the money goes into the BART money pit. This is all about Carl Guardino and his merry band of crony capitalists trying to make the little guy pay for the congestion caused by SVLG members. Sales tax is already high enough.

Mountain View has an overpass at San Antonio and again at Shoreline Blvd. There's a station at San Antonio that means no trench would work at that location anyway. Also, there's already and underpass beneath the train for pedestrians and bikes from Central Expressway at the Mayfield Mall location. You need a certain distance between stations to even consider a trench.
I'd say the only issue is the intersections at Rengstorff and Castro Street, where it makes more sense to have an underpass or overpass for Rengstorff and Castro so they could both cross Central Expressway below or above grade level as well.
But yes, certainly, money for grade separation at Rengstorff is a good idea, just not a trench for the tracks. Castro Street is complex and it too could do with a grade separation.

There is a lot of common sense in this article and in the comment section as well. As long as VTA continues to cram BRT down our throats, and ignores the kind of good ideas given above, I will never vote to fund them.

Extending BART is a great thing, except the self-serving clowns should have veered towards the 237 after a Berryessa station.
That they continue to mismanage and prioritize their city above everyone else is an insult. If only we could join San Mateo county instead.
