Ouch, that's a ton of money and police resources used to just "catch" the victim.

Swing, are you suggesting that the MV Police Department take the time to do a cost-benefit analysis of all possible scenarios before they set out to investigate an assault?

No, I'm simply saying that was a lot of money and resources to be spent only to find the victim. Probably a disappointment for all involved as well as the citizenry. That's what I am saying.
If you want me to repeat it again I can, but please just take it literally.

...Too many paranoid tin foil hatters are reading between every line these days.

Wannabe baseball player has retracted his silly comment about cops wasted resources.

Police prime directive: "Defend and Protect" the public; Not "Pursue and Arrest" the public. The upside of police work is when they can be of service to a non-lethal, non-suspect person who simply needs help. In many jurisdictions nowadays, the police and fire departments rotate personnel and both services are consider PUBLIC SAFETY OFFICERS e.g. Sunnyvale etc.

Apparently "Swing" doesn't know this. His John Wayne version of policing is sub-standard as I see it. There was no wasted monies or hours for these police officers. They did their job and did it well.

So they all felt "Job well done" when they didn't catch the perp?
I don't think so, I would imagine they felt bummed.
That would be a very disturbing attitude indeed if they felt.
Why are people making this anti-cop? It's just simple factual statement that there was a lot of money spent without the desired primary outcome of catching the bad guy.

If a lot of money was spent on catching crab, and none were caught, it would also be a disappointment and the statement "Wow, that's a lot of resources to only catch some starfish" could be made.
Apparently, people would get all defensive and assume it was said to mean something else.
Paranoid people...read the initial post ad quote where I said the police didn't do their jobs. You can't can you? Apology proactively accepted. Next round of tin foil is on me.

USA is a registered user.

"200 block of Castro Street" is code for Monte Carlo which draws violent people from outside Mountain View and serves them alcohol.

The police did their duty, but we need to remove the cause of so many police actions on the "200 block of Castro Street".

I wonder who the original caller was who reported the "suspect" on El Camino heading toward Centre Street? Could it have been the real suspect or just a concerned citizen?
