All LEOs should be wearing body cams WITH NO ON/OFF SWITCH when the LEOs are working with the public. We can let a software program filter out the 99% of the useless recording and concentrate on the actual public dialog and/or illegal behaviors ON BOTH SIDES OF THE CAMERA! Add a built in GPS to monitor how much an LEO actually patrols an area and when they take a donut break.
I helped put together a similar GPS/cell phone based system used to track PAROLEES that used AI to call the parole officer pager if and conditions were violated. We got the printouts accepted by the judiciary as legal evidence.
BI was very interested. Another company I worked for built AGVs like the Dalek type machine on display. I hope it has met all the OSHA Standards we had to meet before deploying it in the field. I suggest old Polaroid Ultrasonic sensors configured in a 360 degree sweep instead of kick/bumper strips. To make the guidance system fairly cheap, embed or paint a strip that duplicates the watchman pattern. That type of tracking systems will work well with the SBC speeds in the cardbus used today.
AnAside: LEOs walking the beat during late night/early morning patrols can appear to be aggressive to seniors walking their dogs/cats. Google's new self drives are much bigger in person than their preview pictures would indicate. Can't wait for my first trip to Kaiser by private car! W/batteries in the bottom they wouldn't tip over but how are they on speed bumps?
