I got struck by lightning last night while I was on the motorcycle. I thought it hit near me and didn't hit me.

But since then, I have chest and other pain all over. I've been having memory issues.

I feel dizzy and keep bumping into things.

Will all those symptoms go away soon?

How can lightning cause headaches? I don't understand.

I am so sorry you are suffering. I think you got struck by lightning and should seek medical treatment to make sure your heart is beating at a regular pace and to make sure you are ok.

There are three types of lightning strike. A direct strike is when it hits you and goes to earth through you. A side flash is when it hits another object and jumps sideways to hit you. A ground strike is when it hits the ground then travels through it hitting you on the way.

If a person is struck by lightning, medical care may be needed. Cardiac arrest and irregularities, burns, and nerve damage are common in cases where people are struck by lightning. However, with proper treatment, including CPR if necessary, most victims survive a lightning strike, although the long-term effects on their lives and the lives of family members can be devastating.

Thanks Ada. I'll see the doctor if I think they can do anything for me. Or answer questions like how lightning makes you forget stuff.

Part of the challenge is finding time and energy to go, because I usually work 4 jobs, 7 days a week.

I feel kind of lucky to experience lightning up close, but I wish the symptoms were a lot less severe and painful.

It also makes me feel weird because I don't normally think or wonder about silly stuff like lightning. It's like worrying a meteor will hit me.

But after seeing it, it taught me that at any time, and without warning, one's life can be suddenly snuffed out.

I'm guessing over a short time, I'll stop thinking about lightning altogether. But every time I get a cramp or headache, it reminds me.
