I'm assuming the lucky 300 are already chosen? Would love to have known in advance to put my name in the lottery for this....unless there was no lottery only NASA???

Events will be happening all day but it looks like the closest flyby of pluto will occur around 7:49 Eastern time and then images of the flyby will be available on Wednesday afternoon between 3-4 in the afternoon. New Horizon will stop communications during the flyby so that it can gather data.

It seems that people can get an invite to the event, altho the ballroom is full.

@Mark - thank you for the great information. We did as you suggested and got an email late Monday night with a "ticket". My 6 yo was thrilled to get to go to NASA and be part of the event. What a special experience - so grateful for you mentioning how to be part of it.
