Foster Homes Needed for Underage Kittens!
The Humane Society Silicon Valley (HSSV) is one of the area's largest shelters, and is privately run, and takes cats and kittens from all over the Bay Area, including other shelters that are at capacity. By law, kittens cannot be adopted from a shelter until they are at least 8 weeks old, but many kittens are brought to shelters less than 8 weeks old (they are referred to as underage kittens); some are brought in with their mama cat. Shelters do not have the room to hold kittens for weeks -- and kittens are susceptible to respiratory infections, since their immune systems are not fully developed -- so shelters either 1) place kittens in foster homes until they are 8 weeks old (IF foster homes are available), or 2) try to find rescue groups to take the kittens, or 3) euthanize the kittens.
HSSV desperately needs foster homes. Ask your friends, neighbors, and co-workers -- any cat lover! -- who might be willing to open their home for a few weeks to save a life. HSSV supplies all the veterinary care, training and other necessities for fostering.
Please contact adoptions for more info at 408-262-2133 x150.
HSSV is located in Milpitas, right off of 237 -- an easy drive if there isn't much traffic. :)
