Mountain View Whisman ratchets up spending

This is a story that is really noteworthy. The School Board thinks the district has spent $1 Million in the red. But not so! There is another $3 Million or so in retroactive state revenue due to the district this summer.

Ooops, suddenly that $1 Million spendin of reserves will turn into a $2 Million ADDITION to reserves.

And the facts are not made clear.

It's a tribute to bureaucracy and state lawmakers.

Hurray!

Another correction to the story. State revenue to the district for NEXT YEAR will be on average $1000 more PER STUDENT than was received this past year (around $7K and change this year from the state, not counting the special bonus repayment due this summer.)

So that's an extra $5 Million in revenue for next year. Oh my, this extra spending just appears to be very sustainable, especially if the state follows through on the intention to increase still more the following year and thereafter for quite a while.
