City moves ahead with Rengstorff center upgrades

A $17 million face-lift for the community center at Rengstorff Park is moving full-steam ahead, but the project seems to have run into new opposition from the residents living right next door.

The city council, parks and rec. commission and public works department did a fine job in this effort. (IMO) The best did not hold up the possible. I think it was about $170 M (and a tax bond) that the architects came up with. "Not possible" said the council (after survey of voters). So I saw the public works dept. come up with a mountain view, we can do it, plan. Affordable - not so fancy, and therefore within the city's normal capital budget reach.

(NASA Ames ref. circa 1990s) Reach for the stars - but only get to the Moon? Not so bad.
