This intersection seems to bring out the worst in drivers. We walk downtown a few times per week and it seems that drivers are oblivious to pedestrians or just don't care (perhaps in too much of a hurry to watch the Kardashians or something). The downtown area needs significant traffic enforcement and/or cameras to catch these types of morons.

PLEASE slow down and pay attention. One distraction can ruin a family.

She runs someone down in her car and she just DROVE OFF!?!?!
We need much stronger penalties for hit and run and yes, enforcement of speed and aggressive drivers.

I would love to see all crosswalks in Mt View light up on the pavement. Los Altos has them, and they work quite well. Castro at night it's very hard to see people in the crosswalk, many of my friends have said the same thing.

Anything we can do to get cars to slow down and quit racing the other guy is a win for this town.
Cops don't care about traffic enforcement. You NEVER see a ticketing officer anymore unless they are sitting on some corner and focusing only on one spot.
We need roving cars that do nothing but write tickets, then put them all up and down ECR and the major cross streets.
It'll be like fishing in a barrel, and once people realize they cannot drive with impunity, they will slow down.

I'm glad that the victim was not killed. Best wishes for a quick and complete recovery.

Witnesses - please come forward and help to catch the perp.

I agree with letsgetreal.
When driving, I find them easy to see. Much easier than the overhead yellow flashers on Shoreline.
My husband and dog were hit by a car who did not see those either. Luckily, both were fine. At least this guy did stop.

I'm looking forward to the day when GoPros and DropCams record absolutely everything that happens on public streets. Or at least just enough to ensure no one dares zoom off after mowing down a pedestrian.

I realize it's expensive and unlikely, but it would be so nice if we could have pedestrian crossings under or over el Camino, so that pedestrians can cross anytime, without a light, and never intersect traffic. It works great where I've seen it implemented. You can build the tunnels in an X shape so you can cross from any corner to any corner.

@Resident ~ great idea! Probably expensive but perhaps the costs could get rolled up into the BRT plan if that were to go forward (not looking to start a debate on that here).

I'd rather us focus on finding the sicko that ran down someone and drove off.
