Thrilled that the Pear Ave Theater will continue to have a home, we are huge fans and long time supporters of Mountain View's own theater company but not so thrilled that Google is giving assistance to only 3 tenants, that is deplorable. Google has more than enough money to help these displaced businesses. Leaves a very bad elitist taste if you know what I mean.

Google have given the tenants four years of below market rent. Wanting additional compensation to move is trying to take advantage of a David v Goliath situation.

Due to the apparent randomness of the move assistance funding, my guess is that Google is only underwriting the relocation funds for existing Google Adwords customers.

"A Google representative explained that the company was giving assistance to only three tenants with more than a year left on their leases."

Yes, but Google did not offer lease renewals to all tenants. They moved to month-by-month leases for most tenants.
