The article does not disclose any particular plan the protesters favor - except getting on with increasing the city's minimum wage. Anyone who thinks Councilmembers (other than Lenny Siegel) want to hold down rents have not checked to see where Councilmembers have gotten their financial support.

Scott - Generally agree with you that the MV council is beholden to developers, but just keep in mind Rosenberg's proclivity to pull a complete 180 in the name of "social justice".

Rosenberg is a corrupt lair. We just need to contain him to minimize the damage he might do to our city. Showalter as well. Liars who were bought off by VTA. Liars who told us one thing to get our votes, then did the complete opposite without any forewarning at all. It was quite a con job they pulled on the people of MV.

Prior to the last election, I warned everyone that Rosenberg was the one candidate we needed to keep to keep off the City Council. Sadly, very few listened!

These accusations "MV Council beholden to developers" ARE FALSE.
Here is my proof: Attend city council and EPC meetings and witness first hand the onslaught of city fees and perks required to develop your land (that's right YOUR LAND, not the public's land), especially under the new euphemism "community benefits." This is public extortion at its best but its really the property owner who is being exploited. Developers are nothing more than third party brokers. Unbelievable.

Local 19's office is listed as being in the 2300 block of Zanker Rd. in San Jose. I have to wonder just how many of the demonstrators live and work in Mountain View. If the answer is "very few" or "none", then why the heck don't they demonstrate in San Jose or Santa Clara and stay the heck out of Mountain View? We don't need them.

Yes, a long long time ago Unions were good, but today they are not needed at all. Just one lawyer is all that is need nowadays to do their type of work. Just like all things that get too big, corruption sneaks in.
What do the unions do, just ask Detroit and all the other cities on the verge of bankruptcy. They inflate salaries and pensions to unsustainable levels, betting that the stock market will take care of their gladios visions. And when that fails, all the govt. are in a scurry to raise more taxes, or now they call it fees. They are nothing but a gang of crooks that steal works money for their liberal PAC that bring in the liberal politicians that are hell bent on destroying cities/states. They live for bigger govt.

These were fast-food workers, hotel and airport workers. Would you trade salaries and stock options with them? Yeah, I didn't think so.
Back when I was growing up in the 70s, minimum wage was enough to support a young family in a two bedroom apartment. Minimum wage has not grown with inflation and now a full-time job at min wage isn't enough to even support yourself without food stamps. It's outrageous! Nobody working a full-time job should qualify for welfare! Minimum wage needs to be higher. Who do you think is footing the bill for food stamps? You are, Citizen.

Nice article old timer. Shows the hypocrisy of unions. Private Union membership is declining to zero while public unions are growing. It's obvious that unions cannot compete In the private sector, to they bribe politicians to support them with excessive salaries and benefits.
As for Cordelia. You r in a dream world . No one ever worked at minimum wage in the 60's to support a family. I worked at minimum wage because I was a young unskilled laborer. Now I have a graduate degree and of course I wouldn't switch jobs w a low skilled worker. I've been there and decided to increase my human capital and my earnings. That's the way incentives work
