I never could understand how u can be arrested for resisting arrest when there is no other charge. It seems to me that if the police are arresting u for an actual offense and u resist then resisting arrest is obviously going to be another charge. But if there is no other charge for them to arrest u for then how can they charge u with resisting arrest? Sounds like the charge of resisting arrest, when filed by itself is just a way to detain someone unlawfully.

Yah Timo, it's a matter of the laws that are on the books. A lot of people don't know them or follow them so they see the back seat of the cop car.

A cop has the legal right to detain you so your statement about being able to detain you unlawfully makes no sense. They can do it and it is legal. They can detain you lawfully whenever they want, and if you fail to comply with them when they try it, (something that stupid people do regularly)they can charge you with that.

Knowing this tidbit of knowledge will help a lot of "tough cool guys" look less foolish by deciding to actually do what the cop is telling you to do and not trying to become a street curb lawyer with no knowledge of the actual laws.

Mountain View Police are crooked. They violate protocol all the time by making up probable cause to stop people. Yes having knowledge of your rights and the law is important but what good is that when the cops are violating the law and peoples rights. The MVPD dosen't have tasers anymore for that same reason, misuse and violating protocol on the us of tasers.

You know who else is crooked...CROOKS! I'm glad the cops are there to arrest them.
This young lad went to jail because of his attitude. An attitude of "I don't have to do what you tell me"
He was wrong.

Lesson learned by li'l Ricky, and a lesson for everyone else who thinks they can decide to talk smack and disobey a cop. Such an idiotic thing to do. A trip to jail because of ego. The jails are full of these pathetic losers.

Yes Ricky was wrong. But police are humans too and they do the wrong things also. Not all police are crooked. There are plenty of officers who became cops for the purpose of good. Mountain View has good officers but they have bad ones too.
