MV to study South Bay clean-energy alternative

In a bid to cut energy costs as well as greenhouse gases, Mountain View officials are powering forward with a small band of South Bay cities to create a new clean-energy portfolio tailored for local residents.

Competition is great for the consumer. PG&E, being a monopoly, has been focused on profit maximization. Competition will require them to look at safety and customer service!

Unless this program creates more clean energy it is simply a redistribution of existing clean energy so that local people can feel good about reducing their carbon while at the same time increasing other people's carbon.

I think this is a wonderful way to potentially reduce our carbon footprint while reducing ratepayers' costs.
