Extending the trail southward past Middlefield Road will be a tremendous improvement. The current bicycle routes in this part of town are pretty poor, especially for children that are too young to bike on Middlefield Road (where cars too often speed and park in the bike lanes).

Progress, but using Middlefield Road on weekends is still problematical. Parking is allow Sat. - Sun. in the bike lanes. So, any trail extension should also include future plans to fix this...

Yes, that section of Middlefield is tough with the cars parked in the bike lane. It forces bikes into the right lane of traffic, which pinches progress of cars and really creates a dangerous situations.

I did not know that parking in bike lanes was legal on weekends. That's a bad idea.
However, I do know that people park in the bike lanes on both weekdays and weekends (Middlefield Road). Maybe they are confused about when blocking the bike lanes is legal? Solve that problem by making blocking the bike lanes illegal all the time.
