City sets goals to boost housing supply

With the price of housing rentals rising through the stratosphere, Mountain View city leaders last week endorsed facilitating micro-homes and in-law units as a way to provide more housing options. But elected leaders stopped short of lending their support to more controversial suggestions to control the cost of housing such as a rent-stabilization ordinance or new tenant protections.

MV has the highest percentage of rentals in the county. Without rent control, there will be a lot of turnover. Is that the city we want to live in? Where most of the population is transient?

Housing types not just housing but types.

Small 1 bedroom cottages, bedroom with bath on second floor, small yard no car parking near central area or good transit/options.

Flats with good private shared space.

Basement space that can be a income suite or not.

Lofts or housing units above the shops. Backyard units, above the garage units and private entrance room rentals with bath.

Preferably near train, shuttle and public tranist points. This includes BRT.

Does anyone actually think that Pat Showalter or Ken Rosenberg are going to do anything to protect tenants from landlords after landlords secretly bankrolled their election with some $100,000 in dark money?
