MVLA Superintendent-elect Jeff Harding has some explaining to do

Original post made by incognito, Waverly Park, on Apr 15, 2015

In googling Jeff Harding, I see that he fired some well-liked coaches, much to the dismay of students and parents. And they give the standard response "we can't talk about it in public, only in closed session among ourselves."

Current superintendent Barry Groves recently terminated (okay, did not invite to return) the well-liked drama teacher at MVHS, much to dismay of students and parents, with the same explanation (none).

Also, Harding's current district, Healdsburg USD (K-12), is very different from MVLA. The one high school has little more than 600 kids, far less diversity, with much, much lower SES and academic achievement. Which in itself is not a bad thing, just makes me wonder what was the school board looking for and what did they find in Mr. Harding. He may very well be a fabulous leader and a great guy, I'd just to know more specifics about how the board arrived at their decision.

Jeff Harding is a parent first administrator... With Jeff, the parent is always right. He has a track record of being anti-athletics, and athletic coaches and teachers will bear the brunt of parents complaints. He has a record of promoting "window dressing" programs that look good to the casual observer, but lack real substance. Teachers watch each other's backs as your new superintendent will not. I am impressed with the author of this article's scratching the surface of this man's record, and I encourage you to keep digging. Frankly, I am quite pleased that your board of trustees did not do due diligence on Jeff as he is no longer in our district. Teachers, he will likely greet you with a Nordstrom suit speech... It's nordstrom treatment for parents, and Walmart management for staff.

Yes, it would be illegal to publicly discuss someone's termination of employment and would open the district up to costly lawsuits. Aside from that, we'll consider your ax to now be well ground.
Thanks for the tips, we'll take it from here.
