Medical Foundation doctors issue advice on youth mental health

The Palo Alto Medical Foundation pediatrics department took an unprecedented step into the community debate on teen well-being, offering strong recommendations on several factors they see as key to bolstering students' mental health.

it will be interesting to see if the schools embark on a comprehensive community wide year long discussion of the issues raised in the letter (and inclusive of students) -- i am sure there have been many many efforts and discussions about the suicides / depression etc but this letter by the pediatricians may be a distinct opportunity and challenge to step back and look at the whole picture and think outside the box

Yea, I'd like to add a MAJOR factor in depression and suicide is the amount of bullying that has gone [Portion removed due to offensive language] unnoticed at schools, especially high schools. [Portion removed due to offensive language] There are definitely staff members that ALLOW BULLYING TO HAPPEN IN FRONT OF THEM! These [Portion removed due to offensive language] should get fired immediately! Schools are LAHS AND PALY.[Portion removed due to offensive language]
