Man arrested in umbrella attack

Police arrested a man Monday after he allegedly attacked a worker at his apartment complex with an umbrella because he suspected that someone had entered his apartment illegally.

Had the worker entered the man's apartment illegally? The article is unclear. Do landlords in California have to give 24 hours notice before workers enter apartments for non-emergency work?

The question of entry or notification has nothing to do with the crime the guy committed. Even if the answer was yes, his apartment was entered into by this particular employee, the assault was still totally illegal and deserves prosecution.

If someone makes illegal entry to your home and you think you are in danger (which is usually the case when someone makes illegal entry), then you are justified in defending yourself. The resident used an umbrella, not a baseball bat or shotgun.
