Landlords' hidden spending may trigger new election law

Responding to the Voice's story that a landlord advocacy group hid $85,000 in late election spending from voters, Mountain View's City Council voted unanimously on Tuesday, Feb. 10, to have the city attorney investigate a way to speed up the public disclosure of such spending.

Sunnyvale's 2013 council elections saw the three winning candidates (Griffith, Hendricks and Larrson) collect $400,000 in donations from developers, realtors, Public Safety and Tony Spitaleri, then Mayor of Sunnyvale.

Watch out Mt. View. It could happen to you, too.
