To answer Obvious question's question, our personal rain gauge shows 3 inches. So it's not official, but it gives you some idea.

@Obvious question:

Depends on the weather station. Here's one at Moffett:

showing 2.39 inches from this past storm.

"Cross said every little bit of rain helps end the drought, but it may take years before the drought is over."

We don't have a drought. We have a "water management" problem. Too much demand for too little supply.

"Seasonal rain totals in the Bay Area are back to normal after the weekend rain and windstorm, National Weather Service officials said today."

So we are back to normal supply, but our demand keeps growing. That's not a drought! A drought is when we get substantially less rain than normal for a period of time.

Unfortunately, conservation alone won't fix the problem. We need to look at the very real problem of too much demand from a different angle. Any real ideas? Or just the recycled ones from the past?

Normal rain level...but we didn't need "normal".. We needed a large surplus to refill our reservoirs and increase the snow pack, so we can have water during the spring and summer months.

Until we have a surplus, we are in drought conditions.

Normal but how many more days till the end of the rain season? We can still end up below if this 79 deg and sunny keeps up for Feb and March.
