Help your street avoid flooding during big storms!!!

Original post made by Works well, Cuesta Park, on Dec 10, 2014

Localized flooding can be a problem with big storms. one of the ways we can help ourselves and our immediate neighbors is to keep the curbs and gutters clear of car tires and garbage cans.

When we park close to the curb or put our garbage and recycling container wheels snug against the curb, we are creating our own mini dams, and mini lakes that overflow onto the sidewalk, increasing the risk of flooding by our own avoidable actions. You can see this happen regularly even in mild storms.

Leave a gap of at least 12 inches and leaves and water will not pile up as much. Help yourself, don't harm yourself.
