For those who don't want to fill their stockings with generic goods from department stores this holiday season, consider the shops nestled along the local downtown strips. Be it for the techie, the animal lover or the athlete in your life, local shops have less orthodox, more personal little gifts that will fit perfectly into the socks hanging over your fireplace this year.

Is this paid advertising? Reading this piece makes it sound like there are two stores in downtown MV. I love Therapy and Books Inc but what about all the other great retail stores? such as....
Mountain View General Store
Cognition Cyclery (corner Castro/El Camino)
Jane's Beer Store (Villa)
East West Book Store
In-Step Footwear
Art Frame Studio (have a family photo framed)
Boutique4 (Women's clothing)

Also another gift idea: buy gift certificates from restaurants, salons and the Center for Performing arts. You don't need to schlep to the mall, there are many ways to spend your money in downtown MV.

The byline says PA Weekly, guess Jennah does not spend much time south of San Antonio Rd.
