" used travel points earned from the trips to receive free travel services for himself and members of his staff "
At least he wasn't selfish!!
How about going after the double dippers? Now that would be something, but I guess the union doesn't want that, since they are the ones that put that in place.

So, he unstated thing in the article, did he get reimbursed for the trips by the County? If not, then this was quite a gift on his part indeed.
And, is there is a county policy about paying for trips and then getting reimbursed? It seems to me if he got points for using his personal card, it also has to be taken into account that that was his business. Did the county pay more for the travel than it otherwise would have? Did they pay him interest for the time between charging the expenses and providing reimbursement? It seems like he provided a financing source to the county that may have been a good deal for them.

I have known John for over 30 yrs.... He is a very principled person, a Mtn View man, who, wiIh family, owned and ran the old MtnView Stationery store on Castro.
So, what should he have done? Given the travel points to his boss to use ?
Heck, he did the work, traveled for the benefit of the county.. Jeeze... let's look at all (ALL) of the travel perks by ALL of the county employees..
