Redwood City has aproximately 1500 housing units in the pipeline, that will help a little and the ferry they tested to go from SF to the Port of RWC is another innovative way to cut down on car trips.

And Google has also leased 424,000SF in Sunnyvale (former Juniper Networks building), this in addition to the 1.2 million SF of office space Google has already leased. And is is rumored that Google may sign a lease for 1.9 million SF Moffett Place, which is nearing completion in Sunnyvale.

I don't view these recent lease signings and/or land acquisitions in nearby cities as a signal that Google plans to lessen it's footprint in Mountain View. I view these recent developments (ha, a pun!) as confirmation that Google plans to continue to expand in Mountain View and nearby cities at a torrid pace.
How many people per square foot in Googleville...161SF per person? Do the math on that when considering the nearly 4.5 million SF of office space it appears that Google will have locked up very shortly.
