Makes sense. Palo Alto's population is much smaller than that of Sunnyvale or Santa Clara - and being at the edge of the county, the courthouse is less convenient to most people in northern SCC.

What does it cost to operate these courthouses? The Palo Alto courthouse has a jail and offices for the DA, Public Defender, Court Clerk and Adult Probation. Is the building to be used or leased out or sold to some rich crooks immune from prosecution? The story is unclear - evidently because it is just a re-write of a news release.
