Joe Mitchner said, "For example, at the May 12 board meeting, the five board members had anything but a consensus over whether or not to allow physical education class exemptions for ninth grade students. Mitchner said he thinks there's value in the P.E. program and that all ninth graders should be required to take it, but he said he was open to explore alternatives."
They certainly did not SEEM very open. They got a presentation from everyone they could think of that would say things about how great PE is, then they gave the other side of the argument each 3 minutes to present.
Seems very unfair - like a group that knew what they wanted before anyone got there.
What a waste of time to go to the meeting!
TIME FOR A NEW BOARD....ONES WITH KIDS IN THE DISTRICT!!

If there are incumbents running, then there are not "three open seats".

We need 3 new people for the 3 open seats-not an incumbent like Joe. He has been apart of this board that sits back and does not hold Barry Groves in check. He allowed the P.E. vote that was already decided prior to the meeting. He has been around with the grading issues with the new grade changes. We need 3 new people with fresh ideas to move us into the next years ahead. They need to be independent thinkers not puppets to Barry Groves!

Note that school boards hire superintendents, which is why there's often consensus in thinking.
Also, if you listen or attend meetings, you'd know that Mitchner has been vocal and kept eyes on improving grading issues.

Judy Hannemann has been on the Board forever. How about some new(er) blood?
