I'm glad that we now have a "contested" election. I like choices.

Time for Reeder to go. Why would perpetuation of a "life-time" appointment be a good thing for a productive board? The goals of Peter Fung sound noble; probably should give him a chance to make good on his promises. Now, transparency with regard to activities of the board - this should be #1! It would also be a novel concept for this board, and the hospital administration in general. They have been feathering their own nest for years! Also, their general ineffectiveness is legend. Why should this be allowed to continue? True over cite of their activities? You must be kidding!!
El Camino is known for milking insurance companies to the MAX. with longer than necessary hospital stays, or even shorter - whichever will net them the most $$$. And, everyone seen in the ER gets a minimum of either 1 CT scan or MRI, or both! Need to feed the beast after all. This does not serve the patients' health needs, but rather the financial goals of the hospital. Farmer Brown could take lessons from ECH on how to get more milk from a cow!
The board o.k.s generous bonuses and salaries for top hospital officials, and they in turn find fat envelopes placed in their in-box. The CEO is pulling down close to a MILLION dollars annually in total compensation -the most of any hospital CEO in the South Bay! El Camino hospital is among the most pricey hospitals in the area because they feel they can get away with it, and apparently they do! Any payment shortfalls by patients get them sent IMMEDIATELY to collections -nice! How's that for compassionate care? And, if there is any doubt that they may not get top $ for any given hospital service, the patient is refused the service, no matter how urgently needed. Hey, it takes a lot of revenue to feed the gravy train - and the train is long!! Don't have health insurance, well, you sir will be charged list price for everything!! A price that no other patient would ever be charged. And, you can count on getting repulsive food served to you every day, every possible medical test ordered for you as often as they possibly can, and a plethora of services that you probably really didn't need, at top dollar no less. So, good luck to all you new board members!!

They should seek beds and not seats.

More choice is always better, but I question the motivation of Abe-Koga. She has already filed to run for Supervisor in 2016, despite the Healthcare District being a 4 year term. How serious can she be if she's only looking to serve for 2 years.

Supervisor is the position she really wants given she ran in 2012. She's now just biding for Joe Simitian to finish his term.

@ Hannah Lee
IT looks that Abe-koga is really serious in running for the bigger chair she can find!

Yes, Fung is a legitimate candidate. MAK is just looking for something to do while she waits for Simitian to find another office to run for. It may be awhile unless Honda gets beat by Ro.

Margaret Abe Koga cares deeply about health and about fiscal responsibility. She will work for us and do her best, alwaysu
